Access to large multi-media files via fast internet connections such as fiber optics can now supply medical professionals with the capability of viewing digitized radiology images electronically, from a remote site.
With the advent of fiber optics the transmission of digital x-rays to remote sites can now be accomplished with very high data transfer/transmission rates. This now means that critical data can be transmitted quickly to remote sites over a high-speed network in emergency situations.
Results can be viewed on standard web browsers such as Netscape and Microsoft
= s Internet Explorer. This allows reports, images and other multi-media files to be viewed from remote sites using intranet or internet connections .
